Nagarkot to Changu Narayan Hike

Introduction
The hike from Nagarkot to Changu Narayan is an easy one along the peripheries of the Kathmandu valley. This hike is suitable for visitors looking for a comparatively smoother hike amidst the natural beauty of Nagarkot and Himalayas overlooking the Kathmandu valley. Nagarkot is a beautiful hill station situated at the rims of Kathmandu Valley. It is situated at the height of 2100m. Our destination, Changu Narayan, is a temple devoted to Lord Vishnu and is listed in the World Heritage Site. Changu Narayan was first built during the 4th century and was rebuilt at the beginning of the 18th century after the occurrence of a fire. The temple is a sacred site of pilgrimage for many. The hiking trail leads us across the Tamang Village that is filled with the amalgam of rich Tamang and other local cultures.

Hiking Trail
We begin the hike in the early morning from Nagarkot after breakfast. We descend on the path that passes across the Tamang Village, enjoying the view of the terraced fields. Throughout the way, we are accompanied by the view of the mighty mountains. The old brick houses welcome us in the Newar Village after we walk for about 4 hours. After immersing ourselves in the Newari community, we resume our hike towards Changu Narayan. A quick exploration of the temple ends our hike. We then take a ride to return to our resort, The Lapsi Tree.
